I had a reminder than I need to chill out and take some time to breathe yesterday. So I will try and do that more! Anyway, this is my lovely friend who was in town from New York and always let's me do something gorgeous with her hair. She hadn't had it colored since before the panny and yesterday we did just a couple balayage highlights to marry her light ends to the root and then kept her base and tone super warm, golden, and reflective. The icy blonde trend is moving on babes! And honestly I'm happy lop this looks better on more people, is less maintenance, and less stress on the hair. I still love creating an icy blonde tho- always a fun challenge!

We started with the fuschia color and I added a bit of violet to each section until we got to an Indigo color all the way in the back! I think this turned out STUNNING. What do you think?

This can be done on all texture types, however curly folks will need to come in more often for maintenance to ensure there is no tension/snagging/matting. @beautyandbodybybre makes a dope model though, am I right?! I'm so grateful for her for trusting me in this process, and also guiding me! She also does extensions and as this was my literal FIRST real head I've done this on, it was really comforting to know I had someone in my chair who could help and also understands the struggle that comes with learning a new technique. So excited for where this journey takes me!

*long post alert 🚨* Back in October I started my body positivity/fat acceptance Instagram page and this page here on OF. It was something I had been wanting to do for a really long time, being the representation I wish I had growing up. If I didn't see bodies like mine represented, let me be the one to do it so other folks feel like they belong and are normal. Yesterday, my favorite store and the store that allowed me to even begin to have an interest in fashion reposted me on their Instagram with almost a million followers. Now I know, it's social media so who cares and yes that's definitely true. But I vividly remember when Torrid opened at the mall here. I saw some cute clothes from the window and prepared myself to not be able to wear anything in there, like almost every other store in the mall. I'll shop accessories worst case scenario, which is what I usually did. But then I went in and they *only* carried plus size?! And *fashionable* plus size?! I almost cried! I even did a little mall fashion show with them when I was a teenager, ft bondage pants and an Emily the Strange hoodie 😅😅 If I could tell teenage Alyssa that one day she'd be featured on this store's social media in lingerie, well, she would have laughed. She probably never even thought she'd own lingerie, let alone wear it, let alone take a picture in it, let alone POST IT on social media. I'd be a badass in teenage Alyssa's book, so I'll take that win.. she wasn't easy to impress 😅 Ok sappy moment done. I'm very proud of the hard work I've put in and the therapy I've done to gain self worth and am so grateful for the people in my life who reinforce those things in me and themselves. You are worthy, you are loved, and you are perfect just as you are. 😘 If you made it to the bottom of this post thank you and I love you! Her hair faded to the blue green you see at the beginning after the violet we did last- it's no joke when I say green STICKS in the hair lol she had done emerald green for months before the switch to violet and that green wanted to come back! What do you all think of this new makeup look I tried out? Should I do a tutorial? The "reverse cat eye" is trending on tiktok so I figured....why not try it! I kinda love it?? It's a bit more intense than I'm used to but it's kinda sexy, right?! I'm so sorry for being MIA the last few days- I've been crazy busy!! She came to me and had some nice icy spots in there, but the front was actually still super golden. We did a full head of babylights with Olaplex and Matrix Lightmaster with Clay Additive for extra insulation (the salon is v v v cold- warmth and insulation of body heat helps lightener process) and BAM! We still have a bit to break through during her next visit, but she was so so happy! And that's what makes me happy 😁

Her hair won't lift that high responsibly to keep the length. Plus it's very high maintenance to maintain silver and she does her hair about once or twice a year- not the ideal candidate. Rainbow Fish has silver, green, purple, blue, and magenta scales, and without the silver it reminded us of the bi pride flag! So Rainbow Fish with bi pride was the vibe we went with! It looks SO COOLLLL pushed all back from her face. Love this look!

Follow that with combing through the conditioner from wide tooth to fine tooth or with a Denmen brush to ensure even distribution of your conditioner. Allow to sit up to 15 minutes and bam! Well on your way to healthy hair!

Knot-less braids are a great low maintenance way to rock a protective style without the stress that box braids/crochet looks can potentially give you. But low maintenance is never maintenance free- especially with natural hair! My client has braids but still comes in to make sure her scalp stays super healthy and here is the process we go though!
