Goodnight, baby. It's late. Daylight Savings has all but ruined my sense of time but judging how dark it is outside, it's probably sometime past 10 for you. It's so quiet. The space in our bed where you usually sleep is empty and cold, such a contrast to how it is when you're here. Warm...just like your body. Warm, when you press it against me and hold me tight in your arms. Warm...like your breath when you're falling asleep next to me, it tickles my neck but I tough it out because I want you close to me. I'm being dramatic, of course. You'll be home soon but it just aches when you're not here. I curl up under our blanket and wrap the sheets tight around me. Nights are colder since it's winter, so I make a little blanket burrito to warm myself up until you get home. I know you'll gently unwrap me and then rewrap me in your arms, holding me close enough to hear your heartbeat. You'll stroke my hair and I'll pretend to be asleep, not letting you know I'm taking in every thing about you. Your scent, your warmth, your breathing, the way my name sounds when you whisper it with an "I love you" attached. It's nice.
