I don’t know how to feel. I am so solid in the knowledge that I did not do anything wrong. Yet I, as well as countless other people, are now in prison or on trial. For standing between the onslaught of police, armed with batons and shields, and other protesters, being battered by these weapons. For showing up in remembrance of Sarah Everard, who was k!lled by a police officer not long before. For making a stand against the PCSC bill which shamelessly criminalises the GRT community as well as the very act of protest. My heart is broken. And it only continues to break. I cannot begin to explain the emotional and physical toll the stress of the past year has had on me, and I can only imagine how I will feel when I am released. I do not know when this will be, but I am hoping for a reduced custodial sentence. For these reasons I am using this post as a fundraiser to help pay my rent and bills whilst I’m inside, and potentially for me to have a little money to fall back on when I first return to my work. I am reaching out because so many of you have been so kind to me, and I count most of you as close friends. I was in two minds as to whether to tell you about my imprisonment, but I know I have always been able to open up without judgement on this platform. It is so important to me to continue doing that. This is why I have been open about my trial so far.
