I’m 38 now, but my love for 90s rock and death metal feels as fresh as the first time I heard it. One of my all-time favorite bands is Bad Wolves, they may not be 90s, but their sound hits me in all the right ways.
I still remember the first time I was introduced to this music. It was a friend's mixtape, full of raw, heavy riffs and haunting vocals. It was thrilling, almost like I had found a piece of myself I didn’t know was missing. It wasn’t just the sound. It was the energy, the rebellion, and the depth that spoke to me.
That love for music didn’t just stay in my headphones, it’s become part of how I express myself. I have tattoos that tell my story, piercings that feel like art, and even a red strand in my hair that’s my little nod to the fiery spirit this music gives me.
It’s also shaped my character. I’d like to think it’s made me resilient, independent, and unapologetically myself. Music reminds me to embrace who I am and to not be afraid of standing out.
