Added 2023-07-26 21:33:59 +0000 UTCPeople were walking by and trying to give me eye contact. I could tell some were hoping their seat would be next to mine. I kept my head low and pretended not to notice as they made their way to their seats.
It started to quiet down and for a moment I thought that no one would sit next to me. I was happy thinking about all the extra leg space I would have next to me but that was short lived. As soon as I thought of my lucky seat swap I saw him.
He looked a bit frazzled. I wondered if he had a close call making it on the plane. Whatever it was he was flustered and was checking each seat number as he walked by.
When he saw the empty seat next to me and double checked his ticket I could feel him take a deep breath.
“Hi” I said to him as he put away his carry on and made himself comfortable.
