This is going to be a long response to a simple question, but I wanted you to see how my mind works and hopefully feel inspired yourself. Q: What camera do you use? A: Yes… 😆 So the list of cameras are GH5 GH5mii FujiFilm XT5 (new) Sony ZV1 iPhone 13 GoPro’s a few and Insta360 My primary camera has been the GH5. I shoot with a Sigma 16mm F1.4, but typically at F2.8 or F4 due to the slow auto focus of the Panasonic. I purchased the $100 update to unlock VLOG on this camera to match my next purchase the GH5mii. I shoot primarily in 4K24 422 10bit, which gives me a lot of correction in my editing software. If I have a longer shoot, I will go down to 1080 60 422 10bit, which will decrease the file size. This is good for parties and stuff. GH5mii was purchased right after the GH6 was released. I wanted the GH6, but it uses new media, which all in was going to add an additional $1000 on top of what I was willing to spend… and I’m not doing that well, I promise. So, I saw the Mark 2 dropped in price, and picked it up. I shoot VLOG 4K24 422 10bit on this. Both the Mark 1 and Mark 2 have full sized HDMI outputs (thank god), which go directly into my Blackmagic Capture card, on my streaming PC. This allows me to have a super high-quality A & B camera. Sony ZV1 I got as a travel camera. When I purchased this camera, I only had the GH5 and didn’t want to risk breaking or losing it. The ZV1 is a decent camera, records 4K24 or 1080p60. But I was never happy with the image on the video. It always felt like it was over saturated. This camera is now my third live streaming camera (top down) which I use on occasion. The downside to this camera is it only records 8bit which means whatever I get.. that’s about it. No recovering it or fixing it like the GH5’s. iPhone 13 is the camera I always have with me. The camera is decent, but you can absolutely tell if you don’t have a lot of light with you. My new plan for traveling is to purchase two iPhone 14 Pros, and use them as my A & B cameras.
