And to me, that is exactly what ecstasis is all about. You know, "ecstatic" comes from Greek origins. Ek - meaning "out"; stasis - meaning "standoff of forces". The Greeks articulated their experiences of ecstasis as: the beautiful state of being beside oneself, or rapt out of oneself. So to embody the ecstatic state through dance, is to literally go beyond. Much farther beyond the convergence of merely black & white. To transcendent places where the mind might question: Oh, I must have passed it... This feels too far... But only the heart knows the way, through the depths of longing and wonder. To reach that place of pure artistic ecstatic creation elation. That is only accessible once you get out of the way of your own self. And lose that ego. To find your prayer. Then, dance it into Being. By exaltedly being.
